4×4 Transfer from Panama City to San Blas Islands

The classic route. A mountain adventure that sets the tone for everything that follows.

The journey

The mountain road
is part of the adventure

The 4×4 transfer from Panama City to San Blas is one of those journeys that becomes a story you tell for years. You leave the capital before dawn, climb through dense jungle and Kuna Yala villages, crest the mountain pass with views of both the Pacific and Caribbean, and descend to the coast where turquoise water awaits.

The road is unpaved in sections and requires a proper 4×4 — there's no other way. This is exactly why San Blas remains unspoiled.

Departure time: Transfers leave between 5:00–6:30am. The early start is non-negotiable — you need to cross the mountain before afternoon rains and arrive at the coast when the sea is calm.
